The ADD/ADHD Specialist

Niche – Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Expertise

I have a particular interest in ADD/ADHD, the neurobiology of trauma, Post Traumatic Stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Emotional Freedom Technique, mindfulness practice and the relationship between mind and body in wellbeing. An important part of my work is psychoeducation – explaining the therapeutic process to clients and why they may be experiencing what they are experiencing. In my experience people are less anxious when they have a better understanding of what they are experiencing.

Overview

My integrative training and holistic approach allow me to work with each client as a unique individual, and to help them find solutions that are appropriate to them. I am Director of the Emotional Freedom Techniques Training Academy, an accredited psychotherapy supervisor, and I was Director of a psychotherapy and hypnotherapy training organisation for twelve years.

I have always been interested in people and what motivates them, their thoughts, beliefs and behaviours. A significant proportion of my twenty three years in the corporate world involved working with interpersonal issues with staff; eventually I decided to pursue that aspect full time.

Approach

I am an Integrative therapist with fourteen years’ experience in private practice and the voluntary sector. My training covers counselling and psychotherapy from different perspectives including hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Emotional Freedom Techniques, bereavement counselling, mindfulness practice and cognitive and behavioural techniques.

I have worked as a counsellor for the UK’s largest addictions charity and a leading mental health charity. I am currently the consultant psychotherapist to an organisation working with people diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and their families. I am experienced in working with a broad range of emotional and psychological concerns and habitual behaviours, trauma and PTSD.

I provide practical skills training to clients, such as Emotional Freedom Techniques, mindfulness practice, self hypnosis and cognitive and behavioural techniques. Underpinning my work is a person or client-centred approach, a recognition that therapy is a collaboration, a journey of discovery for both participants. One of the world’s most respected therapists once said that each time he saw a new patient, he would invent an entirely new therapy. This acknowledges the uniqueness of each individual’s experiences and their way of being in the world, and that therapy needs to be tailored to the specific needs of each person.

Fees & Availability

My fees are £60 for a 1 hour consultation via Skype, phone or face to face. I offer some concessionary spaces to unemployed or low income, please contact me for more information.

I am available for Skype and phone consultations on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 8pm, please check my booking schedule for exact hours. I am also available on these days for face to face consultations in Upper Beeding, West Sussex. I have a comfortable and pleasant therapy space in my home.
